Welcome to Stats Now!

(revised 5/29/2003)

This page will give you step-by-step instructions for entering your team stats. Please print this page and keep a copy by your computer for reference.

(I already know what to do - take me to the stats.)

Requirements

  1. You need a password in order to be able to enter and post stats for your team (if you are using MyStats to enter and track your personal stats you do not need a password). To get a password email the webmaster at cybern8@yahoo.com and specify what you would like your password to be.
  2. You must submit your team roster to the league so it can be entered into the system. You will not be able to enter stats for your team until this is done. Also note that you will not be able to enter stats for any NEW players not on the roster you submitted to the league. If you have new players, please notify the league and ensure that they provide the necessary fees and paperwork. Your new player will be added as soon as their registration is confirmed by the league.
  3. You will need the team scorebook from your game.

Instructions

  1. Log on to the internet.
  2. Start your web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator, etc.).
  3. Go the the Tucson MSBL web site at http://www.tucsonmsbl.com
  4. Click the Stats link.
  5. The page contains options for entering or displaying stats. In the Enter stats section:
  6. The page that appears has two sections - the first for batting stats, and the second for pitching stats. If you don't want to record pitching stats, you don't need to enter them. You can always come back at another time and enter pitching stats if you change your mind. (Conversely you don't need to enter batting stats either, but most players like to see them.)
  7. Batting Stats: Enter your lineup first. Go to each line and select each player from your scorebook lineup. The order does not matter, but it will be easier and faster entering your stats if you select the player names in the same order that they appear in the scorebook lineup. Leave the other lines unchanged.
  8. Go through the scorebook line for each player, one at a time, and tally up the number of AB (at bats), 1b (singles), etc. Remember that BB (walks) and SAC(rifices) do not count as a time at bat.
  9. Enter totals for each field as needed. Leave unused fields set to 0 (zero).
  10. Repeat this process for each player until all have been entered.
  11. Pitching: Enter the names of pitchers first. As with the batting section, go to each line and select the names of players who pitched in the game. Leave the other lines unchanged.
  12. Record the stats for each pitcher. For IP (innings pitched) record partial innings (thirds of an inning, one for each out) as .1. If a pitcher was replaced before an out was recorded but pitched to batters in the inning, credit them with a third of an inning for that inning (.1) in their total. Example: Joe pitched the first four complete innings, then was relieved with two outs in the 5th inning. Joe is creditted with pitching 4 and 2/3 innings, which you should enter as 4.2.
  13. Enter all other stats for your pitchers.
  14. Review all of your stats entries for accuracy. (The program will audit your entries to check for obvious errors, such as a batter with more hits recorded than at-bats.)
  15. Click the 'Submit' button to record your stats for this game.
  16. If any errors were detected, a message will be displayed. Use your browser's 'Back' button to return to the entry page to correct the problem, then try 'Submit' again.

Correcting Stats

To make corrections to one or more player's stats, just re-enter the stats for those players. You do not need to re-enter the entire game (although you can re-enter the entire game if you wish). Both batting and pitching stats can be corrected this way.

Displaying Stats

There are several ways to display the stats.

  1. Click the Stats link.
  2. In the Show stats section:

On Your Team Web Page

You can link to your team's stats for display on your team page. Here is an example of the link to use (Senior Cardinals used as an example):

http://tucsonmsbl.com/stats.cgi?formaction=displaystats&team=Senior+Cardinals&player=ALL

You can continue to view prior season stats (beginning in 2001) by adding &season=2001 (or the year of interest) to the end of the example above.

Game Stats (Boxscore)

You can display your team's stats from any particular game. This can be used to create boxscore-style game summaries for display on your team's web page. It will also show the game writeup submitted by both teams (if there was one) along with the game stats. Here is an example of the link format you would use:

http://tucsonmsbl.com/stats_game.cgi?formaction=showgame&date=05/27/03&time=7:00pm&team1=Central+Thunder&team2=Central+Orioles

If you have questions or problems with stats, email the webmaster for assistance. Email is preferable to the phone, as you can easily include a detailed description of the problem that you encountered.
